The Parade Grounds at Secunderabad is shortly going to witness what can justifiably called ‘TELUGU CULTURAL OLYMPICS’. SILICONANDHRA, an organization, formed in August 2001 by a group of Telugu immigrants to the USA led by Anand Kuchibhotla, has been organizing various activities promoting Telugu culture, music, dance, drama and literature. With a history of organizing Annamacharya Keerthan Programs simultaneously across many cities and countries all over the world, SILICONANDHRA has embarked on a unique way celebrating the singer-saint this year in collaboration with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, the Dept. of Culture, Govt.of AP and Andhra Bank.
On 10th of May this year, SILICONANDHRA in association with TTD and Dept. of Culture is holding a “LAKSHA GALA SANKEERTHANARCHANA”. The venue for this stupendous event will be the Secunderabad Parade Grounds. Imagine 100,000 voices coming together singing with their hearts the glory of Lord Venkateswara as sung by the saint composer Tallapaka Annamayya . It is, undoubtedly, the event of a lifetime for many.
Divine Inspiration, they say, comes only to the chosen few but when it comes, it changes not just the life of an individual but of eons to come. One such who has inspired myriads and breathed bhakthi into their very essence is the great singer-saint, Annamacharya. Weaned away from the transient pleasures of the body to the one of permanence, Annamacharya has dedicated every minute of his life to the service of Lord Venkateswara. The result, the Telugus have found a melodious path to divinity.
Today, we hear the world waking to the lilting music of Anamayya. It is, in fact, an awakening of our souls to the omnipresence of God. Many have found a new meaning in their lives and a sense of direction as a consequence. Anammacharya keerthans are heard from the mellifluous voices of the likes of Subbulakshmi, Nedunuri Krishna Murthy, Balamurali Krishna, Balakrishna Prasad et al to the jarring tones of the bathroom singer. Age, Caste and other factors are erased in this Universal path to God.
It is an opportunity of a life-time for many as a team from the Guinness Book of World Records will be present to witness the event and authenticate it as a world record. Enthusiasts can get further details on www.siliconandhra.org and enroll themselves on payment of a Registration Fee of Rs.100/- into ‘SILICON ANDHRA SB A/c No. 087311100000034 at any branch of Andhra Bank in the twin cities and at selected branches all over India.
